Gurgaons, one of India’s most urbanised areas, has long been home to a vast manufacturing, mining and manufacturing complex.
Its wealth of natural resources, including diamonds, gold and coal, has also provided a vital source of employment and wealth for the community.
But, over the past few years, the city’s fortunes have been heavily reliant on a series of massive projects.
Gurgaont, one the biggest of the major cities in India, has been home for more than two decades to the state-owned Reliance Industries.
In 2017, the company, now known as Reliance Group, announced a plan to build two luxury electric vehicles, the GMC and the Tata Nano, which would be powered by hydrogen fuel cells.
In 2018, Gurgaondas state government signed an agreement with Kia, a manufacturer of high-end luxury vehicles, for a $1.9 billion expansion of its petrol station, a luxury hotel and a luxury retail mall.
Gwalior has also witnessed several large-scale industrial projects in the past decade.
A few years ago, Gwalori City, a sprawling industrial area, was transformed into a luxury resort city.
Today, it hosts numerous hotels, a state-of-the-art railway station and an auto assembly plant.
But the state has also experienced an increase in pollution, which has also made the city more dangerous for the health of residents.
Many residents are wary of the new project because of the threat to their health, says Anil Chatterjee, an activist and former resident of Gwalor, a suburb of Gurgaono, a city of some 30,000 people in the city.
“Gwalori’s health is not good, so people are very wary,” he told Al Jazeera.
The city has faced problems with pollution and pollution-related health problems in recent years.
In January 2018, it was reported that Gwaloria had been ranked the second-most polluted city in India.
In November 2018, a report by the US-based Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that Gurgaor had more air pollution-causing particulate matter (PM2.5) levels than any other Indian city.
The pollution has increased in recent weeks, and many residents are worried about air quality in the area.
“It has been really bad for the people,” said Chatterji, who is also a former resident.
“They don’t want to live here.
It is very bad for them.
It has been very difficult to stay here because of this pollution.”
As a result, some residents have been leaving the city to seek employment elsewhere.
In recent months, several factories have shut down due to the pollution.
The Gwalora area has been witnessing a series a major industrial projects over the last few years.
The state government has announced plans to build the Tata Global Campus, a large cluster of factories in GwalOR.
But local residents say the project is a waste of money, and they are also concerned about the impact on their health.
Residents fear that the Tata Campus will impact the health and well-being of the surrounding communities, as well as their health in general.
“The Tata Global campus will have no impact on the health or well-beings of the Gwaloras,” said an activist who asked to remain anonymous.
“People are coming to Gwalore, going to other parts of the city, for other jobs.
We are concerned that the health will suffer.”
According to local activists, the Tata campus is set to have its first phase completed by 2019, and will then be completed and converted into a residential area.
But some residents fear that there may be no end to the expansion of the Tata factory in Gwynam.
“Tata will continue expanding and will be constructing a massive factory, which will create a lot of pollution in Gwiram district,” said a resident who asked not to be named.
“We don’t think they will go to any other areas.
This is their second big factory.
The Tata Global Complex will be their fifth factory, and their second giant factory in the state.
We will never leave Gwaloro.”
